Question 1

What is the Stroop effect?

Accepted Answer

The Stroop effect is a well-known psychological phenomenon where naming the ink color of a mismatched color word (like "RED" printed in blue) takes longer and is more error-prone than when the word and color match.

Question 2

Do I click the word or the ink color?

Accepted Answer

Always click the button matching the ink color the word is printed in, ignoring what the word itself says - this is what makes the game mentally challenging.

Question 3

What happens if I answer wrong?

Accepted Answer

An incorrect answer immediately ends the game and shows your final score, so accuracy matters as much as speed.

Question 4

What happens if I run out of time on a round?

Accepted Answer

Each round has a time limit that shrinks as your score increases - if you do not answer in time, the game ends the same as an incorrect answer.

Question 5

Why does the game get faster over time?

Accepted Answer

The time allowed per round decreases slightly with every correct answer, increasing the pace and difficulty to keep testing your cognitive speed as you improve.

Question 6

Is my best streak saved?

Accepted Answer

Yes, your longest streak of correct answers in a row is saved locally in your browser and shown alongside your current game.

Question 7

Is this game good brain training?

Accepted Answer

Stroop-style games are commonly used informally to exercise selective attention and cognitive flexibility, though they are a fun challenge rather than a clinical training tool.

Question 8

How many colors are used in the game?

Accepted Answer

The game uses six colors - red, blue, green, yellow, purple, and orange - shown as both words and ink colors in varying combinations.

Question 9

Can the word and ink color ever match?

Accepted Answer

Occasionally yes, to keep you from assuming every round is a mismatch, though most rounds intentionally show a mismatched word and ink color.

Question 10

Is Color Match free to play?

Accepted Answer

Yes, it is completely free with unlimited replays and no account needed.

Question 11

Is Color Match 100% free to use, and are there any usage limits?

Accepted Answer

Yes! Color Match is completely free on Neranjan Tools with zero usage limits. You can process as many tasks as you need without creating an account, paying for subscriptions, or entering payment details.
