Our Core Privacy Principle: Zero Server File Uploads
At Neranjan Tools, your privacy is protected by technical architecture, not just legal promises. All document conversions, image processing, calculations, and cryptographic operations take place directly inside your web browser. Your files and inputs are never uploaded to, saved on, or analyzed by our servers.
1. Information We Do NOT Collect
Unlike traditional cloud-based utility websites, Neranjan Tools is engineered to operate without receiving your data:
- No File Storage: We do not receive, process on our servers, or store any files you select, convert, compress, or generate (including PDFs, images, audio, and videos).
- No Text / Input Logging: We do not log passwords generated, cryptographic hashes, code snippets, or text entered into converters and calculators.
- No Tracking Cookies: We do not use intrusive third-party cross-site behavioral tracking cookies.
- No Personal Data Resale: We never sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties.
2. Information We Automatically Collect
To ensure high availability, prevent abuse, and optimize platform performance, our servers automatically log minimal, anonymized metadata:
- Aggregated Usage Counts: Anonymized event counts when a tool is loaded or executed (e.g. tracking that the Image Compressor was executed, without capturing any image content).
- Device & Browser Metadata: High-level browser name (e.g. Chrome, Safari), operating system (e.g. macOS, Windows), and device category (desktop, mobile, tablet) parsed from the standard User-Agent header.
- Geographical Location: General country code (e.g. US, UK, DE, LK) provided by CDN proxy headers (such as Cloudflare CF-IPCountry) for regional latency monitoring.
3. Local Browser Storage
Neranjan Tools utilizes your browser's local storage (such as localStorage) strictly for client-side user experience preferences:
- Theme Preference: Storing whether you prefer the light or dark appearance mode.
- Favorite Tools: For non-logged-in users, saved tool shortcuts are preserved directly in your browser.
- Scratchpad Data: Temporary notes in the Markdown Scratchpad tool are stored solely on your local device.
4. User Accounts and Authentication
Creating an account on Neranjan Tools is completely optional. If you choose to register an account, we collect:
- Your chosen display name and email address.
- A securely salted and hashed password (via bcrypt). Plaintext passwords are never stored or accessible.
- Synchronized favorite tools linked to your account.
You can delete your account and all associated profile records at any time directly through your Account Settings.
5. GDPR and Global Privacy Rights
Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and similar international regulations (including CCPA/CPRA):
- You have the right to access, rectify, or request deletion of any personal data stored in connection with your account.
- Because files processed in our tools are handled entirely on your client device and never stored on our servers, there is no file data retention period to manage.
